Why we joined Frontier Genetics
The Frontier Genetics sale was born out of the joint vision of like-minded Brahman breeders who firmly believe in the value of measured genetics that generate profit for end users. We are here to showcase the combined efforts of Frontier Genetics members and demonstrate the positive impact that great Brahman genetics can have on Australia.
ADAM GUNTHORPE
ABOUT THE OPERATION
Gunthorpe Cattle Company understand the importance of remaining profitable in diverse and tough seasonal conditions. Their practical experience means they maintain strict criteria when selling breeding stock, ensuring alignment to real-world conditions and costs.

Tarramba Brahmans and Brangus is a family-owned business operated by Adam and Tracy Gunthorpe since 2019 – following 40 years of development by Adam’s parents, Wallace and Kate Gunthorpe. The Tarramba vision is ‘People, profit, land, and cattle managed with integrity. Balancing ecology, economics, and tradition.’ And their herd’s foundation is built upon the determination and perseverance of two prior generations who strongly believed in the importance of the hardy Brahman breed in Australia.

Adam has been at the forefront of genetic advancement by selectively choosing cattle from EBV recorded programs and internal measured genetics, aiming to enhance his herd’s fertility and growth. The result of these stringent endeavours has been maximising profitability for all their clients. Over the past 40+ years, Tarramba has invested in the genetic power from top studs in Australia and has met the herd-bull demands in northern Australia. The common goal at Tarramba is to breed beefy, fertile and functional cattle that meet the highest expectations of the market.

Gunthorpe Cattle Company operates a seedstock Brahman and Brangus stud in conjunction with a commercial trading enterprise and a crossbred breeding herd, showcasing their adeptness at maintaining profitability across diverse seasonal scenarios. Benefiting from their management of leased land, the company exhibits a strong proficiency in maximising revenue and cost-effectively managing expenditures, leading to a consistent placement in the upper echelon of producers, with RCS Profit Probe benchmarked figures consistently ranking in the top 20%.

Tarramba females are all yearling mated for a period of 90 days with multiple sires. The cow herd is joined with multiple sires for 100 days. DNA is taken from all calves for parent verification for sire and dam. These joining groups give an accurate analysis of the Days to Calving EBV (DTC) and let standout animals rise to the top while animals that do not conceive are culled.
