Why we joined Frontier Genetics
Frontier Genetics is very much aligned with our belief that beef producers need the chance to purchase Seedstock that are grass fed and backed by performance data that gives purchasers confidence that the animals they purchase will add profitability to their herds.
ABOUT THE OPERATION
Elrose Enterprises have been performance testing for 30 years with the aim of balanced improvement in all traits affecting fertility, growth and carcase yield.
Rodger , Grant and Brooke Jefferis run the successful Elrose Brahman Stud, and have tailored their operation to meet the needs of Australia’s unique beef cattle industry environment. Elrose Brahmans have withstood extreme conditions for over 40 years, delivering top-level beef production despite prolonged dry spells, scorching temperatures, monsoonal rains, and varying pasture quality previously located at Cloncurry, North West Queensland, now at Theodore and Baralaba.
Elrose concentrates on producing lines of bulls with depth in breeding, characterised by ensuring predictable outcomes for their clients’ herds, and characterised by balanced improvement of fertility, weight-for-age, carcase yield and quality, constitution and genetic strength. The Stud’s commitment to selection and investment in high-quality sires has shaped the development of “true to type” Elrose Brahmans, known for their impressive consistency and suitability for optimum beef production. Elrose prioritises sires that align with their requirements rather than fashionable bloodlines.
The Elrose stud herd is widely measured, considering factors such as days to calving, scrotal measurements, 200-day, 400-day, and 600-day weights, fat and muscle scans, morphology, and culling empty cows at weaning, after a 120 day joining period.
While having calves on the ground is, of course, crucial for profitability, our primary aim has always been to provide high-quality meat yield and maximum kilos on the hook.
