Why we joined Frontier Genetics
We see being a member of Frontier Genetics as a huge opportunity to fast-track genetic gain, both for the Brahman breed and within our own herd. Collaboration with a group of like-minded seedstock producers is a powerful way to offer the industry something new. We are extremely excited to be sharing knowledge, advancing research and creating a new, higher, standard for management and sales.
ABOUT THE OPERATION
RV Pastoral has bred exceptional Brahman bulls for over a decade. With a female seedstock base of approximately 1,500 head – all BREEDPLAN-recorded and meticulously measured across more than 25 years – their herd comprises some of the highest-performance recorded females in Australia.
Richard and Victoria Moffatt are the owners and operators of RV Pastoral and are backed by a dedicated team of passionate people who care about the land and cattle industry.
At RV Pastoral fertility is king and they have a strong focus on the profit-driving attributes. They offer “trifecta bulls” with Fertility, Growth and Carcase and the EBVs to show these characteristics will be passed on to progeny.
RV Pastoral provide genetics for tough conditions. Females must wean a calf every year to be retained in the herd and re-conceive whilst lactating. They have a 60-day joining period for yearlings and heifers and a 90-day joining period for cows.
Their clients have confidence in RVP’s rigorous and transparent management standards and enjoy long-term, working relationships receiving consistent, predictable & reliable results. RV Pastoral were contractual bull suppliers for AACo from 2013 – 2021, delivering over 2,300 bulls to them in this period, so they understand the important role seedstock plays in a profitable production system.
All enquiries and herd inspections are welcomed.
